{Christmas Countdown}

Are you looking for a new way for the kids to countdown until Christmas? So was I! We usually make the countdown chain links for holidays, but we wanted something different. My husband came up with this adorable Santa Countdown. He was procrasting on getting his work done tonight! (hehe, lucky me)

Just draw a Santa face onto construction paper. If you have a coloring book or a print out from the computer, it would make it easier. We free handed ours by looking at one of the kids Christmas books. Write the numbers from 1-25 onto the beard. We added cotton balls onto the hat, I thought it looked cute. Each day in December, up until Christmas, have the kids glue or tape a cottonball on that date in the beard.
Santa will have a nice, full beard by Christmas!
Just in case you wanted to do the chainlinks for Christmas...this is the poem we usually put at the top of our countdown. I typed it out one year, saved it onto the computer and just print it. However, having the kids write it at the top would be cute. My kids just write so big that the bell at the top of the countdown would be enormous!
December 1st to Christmas
is the longest time of year.
It seems as though Christmas
never will appear.
How many days to Christmas?
It is mighty hard to count
So this paper chain will tell
the exact amount.
Tear off a link every night
And you will be able to tell
That Christmas Eve will be here.
By the time you reach this bell.

I love the poem! So cute! (And, yeah, I'd definitely need the printout-- no free-handing it around here! LOL)
